Connecting views Set of postcards and an exhibition
Presented at: 2022 Kilowatt, Sansepolcro, Italy 2021 brut wien
Connecting Views is based on the idea that the image of a city is constructed through the experiences and personal histories of its residents. The project participants from the two communities – Sansepolcro and Vienna – have documented places in their respective hometowns that tell a personal story about connection: a park bench, a bar, a neighbourhood bridge, a boarding school and so on. Unlike popular tourist attractions, the assembled places allow insights into the everyday life of local communities. Their significance derives from intimate stories, special memories, associations or daily routines. The places and personal stories are presented to the audience in a postcard format. Sööt/Zeyringer invite viewers to learn about these places, to visit them, or else to send the postcard to a friend or other person they want to get in touch with.
This project is realised in co-operation with participants of the European Art Commissioners project in Sansepolcro and Vienna (An initiative within the EU network Be SpectACTive!). brut’s audience club BEATE in Vienna and the Visionari of the Kilowatt festival in Sansepolcro (Italy) have chosen the topic ‘connection’ and commissioned the duo Sööt/Zeyringer to do their project Connecting Views.
