A workshop at Estonian Academy of Arts, Sculpture department. Together with Mai Sööt. 2014 The course explores performative ways to approach sculpture / installation. The final result of this course is to create an independent performative sculpture / installation. Additionally the course consists of short lectures, other practical tasks and discussion. Focus is on works that combine sculpture and performance in a way that both have an essential role in the work - the sculpture is not only the scenery or background, and the performance is more than the presentation of the sculpture. The main task is to develop a concept for a performative sculpture and realise it as a complete art work. We also pay attention to the student's general performing and public presentation abilities. In the end of the course the student is able to independently prepare for a performance / public presentation and reckon with visual and performative aspects of their presentation (sound, light, etc.). The presentation of works is be carried out at a public event.
